## 🏦 Setting up donations
For bigger gifts — a trip, a course, furniture — you can let people contribute money instead of buying the exact item.
1. Add a payout bank account first: go to [Settings → Customize](/settings/customize) and fill in the **Donation settings** section. 2. When [adding or editing a wish](/help/adding-and-editing-wishes), turn on **Collect donations**. 3. Choose whether people can donate an exact amount or any amount they like, and add an optional message explaining what the money is for.
Donation wishes show a **Donate** button instead of (or alongside) **Reserve** on your shared list. Bestboy doesn't process the money itself — see the [FAQ](/help/faq) for how transfers actually work.
No — Bestboy only tracks that a wish is collecting donations and shows your payout details to visitors. The actual transfer happens directly between the donor and you.
You choose — when setting up the wish, pick whether visitors donate a specific amount or whatever they like.
